We typically use Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint. We find that it is an excellent quality, long lasting paint that is great for our climate here in the Northwest. We offer color matching services to get as close to your original paint color as possible. Need a new look? We can provide sample colors for you to get a feel for what works, and what does not work, with your home and yard.
Our Process
Our first step is always to wash your home with a pressure washer. This will remove any dirt, debris, organics, and so on. It is vital that this step is thoroughly done in order to create a smooth base layer with which to start additional prepwork.
After washing, we will scrape, caulk, and prime as needed. This is arguably the most important step, as careful attention to detail here will allow the paint to be applied uniformly, adhere well, and create a lasting paint job. If there is any siding or fascia repair needed, we will bring in our in-house handyman team get the repair done before the painting begins. Just before we begin to paint, we will cover windows securely with plastic, and put tape and paper or plastic covering over areas that should remain paint free.
Our crew will then spray and back-roll as needed the body of the home. As they move around your home, they will hand paint the trim. Finally, we will hand paint (or spray if desired) the doors.
After the painting is finished, we do a thorough cleanup of the worksite and take away all of the plastic, paper, tape and other materials we used at the site. Other than a beautiful, freshly painted home, you would never know that The Home Team was there.
All of our estimates will include complete preparation work, color matching if required, and a thorough cleanup. We will also give you our best estimate for the price and number of gallons of paint. Everyone on your property will be an employee of The Home Team – we do not use subcontractors except for very specialized instances requiring a certified industry professional (ie extensive electrical or plumbing work). Should I Hire A Professional Exterior House Painter?
Painting the exterior of a home is not as simple as buying some paint, renting a sprayer, and using up a couple of Saturdays. The prep-work portion of this job is often the most labor intensive and requires the most attention to detail. Not doing enough caulking, lazy scraping, inadequate window taping and skipping priming may speed up the process and warrant a cheaper bid, but the difference will be almost immediately noticeable after the work is completed. Unsightly bulges, visible ‘gaps’ in the paint where siding was under caulked, paint beginning to crack, or over-spray on windows are all indicators of a sub-par prep job. And this is just in the preparation before painting.
The painting portion itself can easily go awry. It is important that an even coat of paint is sprayed, back-rolling as needed. When it goes on wet it looks just fine, but as it dries it is readily apparent that amateur technique was used. Paint bleeding when painting trim is another common occurrence with less experienced providers.
