Our Process
After assessing the area to be painted, we will either relocate or consolidate and cover anything that is not meant to be painted (furniture, rugs and carpets, decorations, windows, etc). We begin by preparing the walls – scraping, caulking if needed, filling holes, doing any necessary drywall repairs, and finally taping. This is arguably the most important part and requires the utmost care and attention to detail. Minor imperfections can be amplified in the final product.
We then begin to paint, priming before if needed. Depending on the previous color, or the result desired, we will do multiple coats of paint. This step, while relatively straightforward, is often where DIYers can go amiss. Ceiling paint lines, dripped paint, and uneven coatings will be distracting in the final product. Walls and ceilings are typically done using a roller, and the fine detail work (ie edges and corners) are done from a ladder using a brush.
After the painting is finished, we do a thorough cleanup of the worksite and take away all of the plastic, paper, tape and other materials we used at the site. Other than a beautiful, freshly painted surface, you would never know that The Home Team was there.
All of our estimates will include complete preparation work, color matching if required, and a thorough cleanup. We will also give you our best estimate for the price and number of gallons of paint. We typically use Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint. We find that it is an excellent quality, long lasting paint that is great for our climate here in the Northwest. However, if you have another preference, we are happy to work with that paint.
Everyone on your property will be an employee of The Home Team – we do not use subcontractors except for very specialized instances requiring a certified industry professional (ie extensive electrical or plumbing work). We do not hire ‘just anyone’. All of our guys are experienced, trustworthy professionals.
